VERNEISHA BRUCEUS.

Faith-led personal training for women — building strength of body, mind, and spirit through workouts rooted in worship.

Our Mission

Meeting women where they are.

At Upward Fitness, our mission is to meet the needs of women seeking to fulfill their fitness goals, including weight loss, toning, and overall fitness. We provide a space where individuals can appreciate their bodies as temples given by God while achieving practical results through workouts. We believe in inviting Jesus into the realm of health and wellness for deeper healing, incorporating elements such as opening prayer, gospel music, and scripture-led encouragement into every session.

My Testimony

A history of rejection — and a God who restored.

A history of rejection led me to a place of insecurity about my body and a broken relationship with fitness. For years I chased the world's standard of beauty, trying to earn worth through how I looked rather than resting in who God said I was.

Everything changed when I gave my life to the Lord. My identity was rebuilt in Christ, and so was my relationship with fitness as I grew a passion for exercising for my health and as a way to deepen my relationship with the Lord. Today I am a certified personal trainer with a passion for empowering other women to confidently start their fitness journeys knowing Christ is with them every step of the way.

Today I serve as the Program Design Specialist, creating customized workout guides and meal plans best suitable for you and your healing journey.

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

— Philippians 4:13

Why Upward Fitness?

Called upward.

Throughout Scripture, God calls His people upward—to meet with Him, hear His voice, and receive direction. In Matthew 5:1, Jesus goes up the mountainside and His disciples follow to receive His teaching. In 1 Kings, God instructs Elijah to go up the mountain to encounter Him. In Exodus 24 and 34, God calls Moses up Mount Sinai to speak with Him and receive the Ten Commandments.

Upward Fitness is inspired directly by these moments—especially Moses' journey up the mountain.

Moses didn't simply appear at the top; he had to climb. He needed the physical capacity to carry out the assignment God placed before him. As he ascended, he remained in active communication with God, moving physically and spiritually toward Him.

In the same way, fitness can become a space where we strengthen our bodies while deepening our relationship with God. Movement becomes a meeting place. Physical growth supports spiritual purpose. And just as Moses needed strength for his calling, I believe women also need physical capacity to step into the assignments God has designed for them.

Upward Fitness exists to help women build that strength—not to chase worldly standards, but to rise into purpose, identity, and the upward calling of God.

What I Believe

Five values. One mission.

Faith First

Your body is a temple. Every rep, every meal, every habit is stewardship — training as worship, not vanity.

Whole-Person Health

Strong body, sound mind, steady spirit. Real wellness is the alignment of all three — not just the number on the scale.

Purpose Over Pressure

We train with intention, not insecurity. The goal is freedom and confidence, never shame or comparison.

Discipline = Love

Consistency is how we honor the gift of this life. Discipline today is the gift you give your future self.

Truth & Encouragement

Honest coaching wrapped in real grace. I'll meet you where you are — and never leave you there.
